Common Practice

Gasworks

Established in 1994, Gasworks is a contemporary visual art organisation offering studio provision for London-based artists and developing a programme of international artists’ residencies, exhibitions, events and educational activities.

Gasworks supports the production of new work through open-ended and process-based residencies, and through commissions that involve long-term engagement and discussion between Gasworks and exhibiting artists. In London, Gasworks occupies a unique space where international and local art practices meet to produce and display new and challenging views of contemporary art. These are presented to UK audiences through a public programme of exhibitions, seminars and open studios. A more targeted and interactive programme is offered to Gasworks’ local communities through specifically designed educational and outreach activities.

As a part of theTriangle Network of artists and arts organisations, Gasworks draws on its connections with international partners to research and present the work of artists from countries in Africa, Asia, Middle East and Latin America, as well as from North America, UK and the rest of Europe.
